DJG designed a new 8,030 sf, three-bay drive-through Station with associated living quarters and support spaces. The new Station was constructed adjacent to the existing volunteer Station, while maintaining operations on-site throughout construction. The Fire Station houses a combined career and volunteer staff of seven, unisex restrooms and shower pods, and a meeting room for 30 people. The building is served with a new septic system, water from the existing well, and a full-service emergency generator.
Civil site work included stormwater management calculations for detention pond design, water quality and quantity, and outfall structure design; site planning for building location and traffic flow; coordination with the authorized on-site soil engineer for septic system design and location; site grading; and working with the geotechnical engineer to provide pavement sections. In addition, DJG designed a right turning lane with approval from VDOT.
